In 2007 Nova Health was launched by Ann Roache. This was not Ann's first business venture. In the early '90s, Ann established a nursing agency and grew it to be one of the largest in the North Island of New Zealand. She decided a break was needed and moved on, but like all workaholics, Ann couldn't sit still for long...
The Chats...One day, Ann was approached by Loretta Dixon, a former hospice nurse , who mentioned the lack of choices that were currently available to palliative care clients when they were in their last stages. Both, Loretta and Ann had strong feelings about supporting people with a palliative diagnosis to be able to have the choice of dying at home and being able to receive expert care. After Nova Health was started, several rest homes and hospitals asked whether any staff was available to fill their temporary shifts. Why not? So another service was added. The Passion...Ann decided right from the start, that the main focus of Nova Health needed to be the passion for palliative care. Even though we would provide a nursing agency service to rest homes and hospitals, palliative would be our priority and expertise, meaning we could better assist facility clients with their needs due to the specialist knowledge.Nova Health is divided into two service divisions, Nova Palliative Care, which specialises in palliative care, and Nova Nursing, which provides nurses to New Zealand hospitals and resthomes. |
