I started my nursing studies in New Plymouth (boy those were some memories) and for some reason I’ve always had a thing for coastal towns/cities. Not the built-up, commercialised, touristy ones, but the fairly untouched ones. The “provincial” ones.
I really love New Plymouth and have really noticed how much it’s changed in recent years. Five or so years ago they didn’t have a Rebel Sport! Now they have a fantastic walk-way, AmeriCARna, a real go-ahead attitude AND even a Rebel Sport!
One of my more recent love affairs is with a town and region we’ve been doing a lot of work in recently. The Coromandel. Now, I’m not talking about your Whitianga’s or your Pauanui’s, I’m talking about your Thames’ and your little bays on the coast.
We have a palliative care client out in one of the those bays and WOW! Simply stunning. Why wouldn’t you want to wake up to an untouched coastal bay every morning? I think it’s the relaxed attitude of these types of places that I love as well as the scenery.
This is one of the great things about agency nursing. You get to meet the most amazing people and work in the most awesome places.
