GeneralGeneral questions about Nova Health
What makes Nova Health different? We suppose, the biggest difference with Nova Health is the support. We believe in support in the health industry is often lacking. Support is fundamental to quality of care whether it be general nursing, aged care or palliative care. We stand by and support our staff as well as our clients.
Nova Palliative CareQuestions regarding our palliative care services
Am I getting qualified staff?Very qualified. All our team undergo specific palliative care training. We also only choose those that have a good repour and attitude towards our strong palliative care focus. Is there any Government funding available?Yes there is. It depends on the situation and also how much care is required. We know all the funding agencies available and what needs to be done to get funding so we can help you get what you need and entitled too. Aren't you just providing home care?Yes and no. Yes we are providing care in the home but no, it's certainly not just 'home care'. Home care is a more general care for those that need a hand at home, such as getting out of bed. These services may be provided to anyone from the elderly to someone under ACC. Although we do provide this assistance, it is for clients that are terminally ill and as a result, we are specifically trained. Can I receive 24 hour care?
Certainly, and depending on your circumstances we may be able to organise some funding for you.
Isn't getting this sort of care at home expensive? If you're looking for care for your Mum, Dad or a relative, ask yourself if you were at the later stages of your life where would you want to spend that time? In a resthome/hospital or in your own home amongst your own things. Wouldn't I get better care in a resthome? If you're worried about not having the right care that you need because you're at home then, rest assured, you will get the care you need with Nova Palliative Care. In truth, palliative care is a very specialist field. For starters, there are pain management issues to consider and unless you are trained in palliative care, you may not realise the full extent of these. Some resthome staff are trained in palliative care, but not all. Would you rather be at home with specialist one-on-one care or in a resthome? Working For UsThinking about working for Nova Health but may questions
How much do I get paid?Well, that depends on a few things mainly how much experience you have. If you want to work with us, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we can go over things with you. Do I pay for my own uniform?Nope. In saying that we provide you with a shirt and you wear your own blue or black pants. And the shirt is quite cool if we do say so ourselves. We also have other other types of clothing, such as jackets and sweaters, in which we heavily subsidies for you. You certainly don't have to buy these, we just have them because, again, we think they look cool. Do I need special skills to work in palliative care? No, and it doesn't matter if you're a registered nurse, caregiver or someone just looking for a career change. Our team is made up of people that, in past lives, taught palliative care, so we provide all the training you need. We also feel that since we like to do things a certain way, it's best if we give you the skills ourselves. The only requirement is if you have the right attitude and passion for the job. Do I work for Nova Health or the place I go to?In most cases you'll work directly for Nova Health. For longer term positions, i.e. 3 month periods for example, you may work for the client. This is generally the case if we have recruited staff for the client What regions do you operate in?
At the moment, for short temporary shifts, we operate in the Waikato, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and some of the King Country. For longer, temporary positions (e.g. 3 months positions etc), we cover all of New Zealand.
Do you charge mileage? In some cases, yes. But we try to avoid this where ever possible. Because we do our best to help you reduce your staffing costs, if we do have to charge mileage we'll find the closest member of our staff to you so the charge is as little as possible. We will also quote you the maximum mileage rate for a shift so you'll have no surprises. Some of our clients how the luxury of being able to offer our staff accommodation if we're going to provide staff over more than one shift in succession. They certainly don't expect The Ritz, but something clean and tidy suits them just fine. Also to keep any mileage charges down, we think it's a cheeky to make a profit on mileage. So anything we charge goes straight to the staff member working for you. We have no administration costs in travelling so why profit from it? |
